Gueststar in Australia

Halsningar fran Sydney och the visiting gueststar - Emma!

Cheers mates!

Moderna skrapfria Singapore

Vi sag bl.a.

Hall i hatten!

Leaving Bali

Remember what we wrote about the 4th and 5th of mars on the last post?? That they party and make so much noise on the 4 that the evil spirits leave and that the 5th its a silent day and that nothing is working what so ever..... Well, turns out that they turn off the banking system for the ATM's across the hole country as well as everything else. :) Go figure...

So this is where our trouble started. First of all for Sarah, the girl from somewhere in England that we met.
Non of us knew that the ATM would not work, so we didn't care to lift money since we where to be inside all day and where leaving the country in the morning. We woke up around 06:45 and had breakfast together when we realized that the ATM's weren't open yet. Shit Shit Shit I recon Sarah's thoughts where... :) What shall I do? Cause Sarah had like 30 000 Rp (around 2 euros) and the hotel room where about 400 000 (28 euro). A small different isn't??? So we asked several times when the ATM would open again and they all said 08:00 pm, and our flight where scheduled to leave for Singapore 09:10. Meaning that 08:00 is the latest we need to leave to the airport. Well, we had to leave earlier since we also needed cash and we thought that it where a better chance that the ATM would work at the airport. It has to, right?? So around 07:10 we left Sarah at the hotel agreed that we should do whatever we can to make them wait a little bit at the gate and at the airport for her. :)We even paid the asshole taxi driver a little bit more so that he would go back to the hotel and wait for her so that he could drive her directly to the airport. But guess what??? He just simply lied and took the extra money and took off. So no taxi was waiting for her.... Just sums up how much u can trust some people here........ :(

At the airport the trouble started for us :( When we came to the airport we started to think about the airport tax fee that we need to pay. 150 000 pr head and we had about 100 000 all together so we where in deep shit as well. And the ATM's still weren't working. So I (Julian) went inside to see if there where any place where we could get some money but nope, no help from nobody. :( So we found some money from Cambodia & Thailand that we could change but still it weren't enough for the both of us to travel. This is wen the funny part started, a security guard that saw our problem came and said that he would give us the money if we had something of interest for him.
We started thinking about what we could sell to him. I (Julian) offered him my electronic razor and my fake watch witch instantly fell in his attention. And Betty offered him a fake purse but he didn't pay attention to that. It where the watch he wanted.... :)
hehehehe so he asked how much and I told him the money so that we could leave the country. He thought long and hard and asked me all these questions of if the watch where water proof and how much I paid for it. :) Of cause I couldn't lie to him so I told him that it where a fake that I bought in Kuta and he called over several of his friends to get some opinion on the case. :) Betty where little bit afraid but they where friendly and not dangerous so it where fine. In the end this other guy told me to come with him and that he knew a place where I could get money. hmmm, little bit sketchy but I went along with him. Well inside the airport there where this guy how sold newspapers and some other souvenir stuff that told me that I could pay with card and get some money out. Awesome I thought.. :) Off cause I had to buy something and he also took 20 % for himself. Expensive but I mean what could we do........ So we got the money and where on our way to check in for the flight. We explained the situation to the guy at the counter for check in but he didn't seem to care that much but he would stay for 10 more minute... We started to get worried for Sarah cause she didn't answer her cell and no word at all from her at all. :(

Alright stay with me on this one. Back to 07:45 and to the hotel where we left Sarah. She where anxious and the clock seemed to go so slow. Like one minute where one hour, and by the time the clock got to 08:00 (witch where the time they said that the ATM would open) Sarah just told them that she needed to leave right away and that one of them simply had to come with her cause she is leaving. So one of the receptionist said that he would drive her to an ATM. So they went searching for a ATM and around 08:15 they found one. With the money on her she paid the guy and even got him to drive her to the airport. He did a Michael Shcumacher on her, the normal 15 min drive into a 7 minute drive so she actually made it just on time for the flight. :) Awesome felling and we where so happy the tree of us that we all made it :)

Well arrived in Singapore we had to go to customs. :) Random check up, witch where fine for us since we didn't have anything illegal with us, at least that's what we thought...... :( Cause what I (Julian) totally had forgotten about was the sling knife that I bought in Cambodia. So I was asked to open my backpack and show them the content of my backpack. Then the knife came to sight. :( Custom police told me to pick it up, lay it on the table and to keep my hands so that they could see them. After looking for 1 sec on the knife she told me to take my bag and follow her. :( Not so nice feeling when u hear them calling a 9-5 and asking for the police to join them.... Seriously I really believed I was headed for jail for a sec there and both Betty and Sarah looked surprised and a little bit worried as I where guided into the interviewing chamber. Bye Bye Betty, see u in a couple of years........
So there I was sitting in their office being interviewed 4 times by different police officers witch all asked the same question in a different way. They where really interested in where I bought it and for witch purpose. So in the end after explaining them how and where I bought the knife they let me go with only a warning. :) :) :) :) Managed to talk my way out of getting a 500 dollar fine. Hell yeah, but if that happens again they will bring me to court in Singapore and give me 130 community service hours and maybe some time to kill in the jail. :( So next time I travel in Singapore I will for sure check my backpack.....

Well here we are in Singapore at least and in a couple of days Betty will write a post about the city and our activities for u to read. But have to run... Our bus is arriving soon so take care and see you soon.
Cheers

Last days on Gili Trawangan & Bali

When u look back on time u tend to think about the things that u should have done and the things that u did do, witch u shouldn't have done. When we look back on our stay at Gili Trawangan we tend to think about that we should have done the advanced open water course and that we shouldn't have done the advanced night dive. Since there is nothing u can do about it let bygone be bygone and focus on the memories instead. Memories like snorkeling with turtles, meeting Luke and Bryony, partying and the island in it self, witch gave us so much :). Its been like a vacation away from the vacation, if u know what I mean. No cars, no hassle and just the relaxed life has done us good, specially since we soon are on our way to Singapore and Sydney. In its own way Gili Trawangan has been the paradise that we missed out on and that we needed before hitting the road again.

The last couple of days has gone fast and has been funny & interesting. We have celebrated Bryony's birthday, gone snorkeling a couple of times, been to the movies and done a night dive. Of cause the normal activities like, relaxing on the beach and eating good local food has been a part of the days as well.
On Bryony's birthday we celebrated her in a open bungalow on the beach with local food and music. It was an amazing night and we ended up having a couple of drinks as well. They are a naice couple and just might end up seeing them in Auckland as well. :) yeahy. Anyway for dinner we had king prawns, snapper and one more fish witch name is missing in our memory. The fish where grilled on the BBQ with as much accessories (potatoes, onions, salad, and souse) as u possible could eat. Awesome meal witch where quite cheap as well. Only 20 euro for like the meal itself, 2 orange juices and 4 drinks. The rest of the evening went by laughing and giving compliments to the chef for the food. And learning some local words. hehe :) Terima kasih ( thanks), Berapa (how much?). But since we had scheduled the night dive the next day we couldn't take it all the way, witch non of us where able to do cause of snorkeling the entire day. :)

The night dive we thought was a waste of money.... Too bad but yeah, we didn't find it awesome like we did diving on Koh Tao. First of all the instructors treated everyone has complete strangers, the instruction where short and some just weird since we saw half of what she said. She went like, I tell u about the diving sight on the boat since we might change it, but no info at all on the boat. Just that there where a current so we need to stay together as a group. We didn't really see anything at all. A couple of fishes, baby octopus and some snakes that where hunting on the ground. But don't get me wrong, I am glad that we did it cause now we know how its like and we are certified to do night dives on our own. And we don't need to do it when we do our advanced open water so some beneficially reasons came from it.

And by that our friends we are weaving goodbye to Gili Trawangan and continue our journey towards Australia. We recommend visiting the Gili Islands and we are thankful for the 8 days we got to spend there. 8 days with relaxing, fun and joy is over for this time. Thank u Gili. :) hehe

From Gili Trawangan we went back to Kuta beach (Bali) just because of our flight leaving 10 min from there. :) Forgot to tell u this but on the 5th of mars there is some sort of secret day in Bali.
Hari Raya Nyepi witch its called is a holy day and its starts on the evening on the 4th of mars. Then they celebrate, party and make a lot of noise so that the evil spirits that are among us leave Bali for someplace else. And the next day (the 5th) everything is closed and everyone is to be inside doing nothing but praying. I mean the lights cant even be on, and u should not make any noise at all. Because when the evil spirits returns, Bali seems to be abandoned, witch will make the spirits go to another place. :) So right now as we speak we are trapped inside our hotel, with nothing to do except chill in our room and pray. Of course that's all that we do :)In here is a lot Swedish people and some Norwegians, that like to party so they were already drunk at lunch. :( hehe Its like being in Big Brother competition where u cant leave the place, all u do is drink and the winner gets some money. :)But thank god its only one night so we will survive. :)

Tomorrow morning we will be on our way to the amazing Singapore. We are leaving the hotel around 7 in the morning and we met this girl from London that we will share a taxi with to the airport tomorrow. Funny thing is that we happen to meet her in a van towards Kuta Beach and she where on her way for the exact same reasons that we are so that's pretty cool. :) And it also means that the taxi is cheaper and better for all of us. :) sweet :)

But have to run guys so have a god one and please comment and keep looking at our blog :) That's why we have it and that's the reason we wright this once every no and then. Qitha we miss u :) hehe
Anyway take care and have some fun.
Cheers

Skoldpaddor, tusenfotingar och magic mushrooms

Guess who's back, back again?? Betty's back, tell a friend!

Gili Trawangan

Hello guys. :)
Whats up with u guys ?

On Saturday we left Kuta beach for Gili Trawangan. We had to get up around 06:00 witch kind off sucked but when u have to u have to. It where a 5 hour trip (Van and speedboat) witch we paid 500 000 Rp pr person for. During the travel we hear people saying they had been riped off and some had even paid as much as 800 000 Rp for the tickets. So for a first time we did a bargan :) It feels good :) hehe

Well arived to Gili Trawangan around 12:00, we found our self on a hotel chase along side with 20 other human beeings who desperatly needed acomadation for their stay on Gili. Felt we where in one of them amayzing raze competition :). U know went there is one goal and u have to get to that point by solve clues that comes your way. And btw I belived we hit the jacpot with our hotel/hostel/bungalow (not sure what to call it). so I belive we won the race :) hmm, a little bit of track here now but anyway....

Gili Trawangan is one of the 3 islandgroups located outside Lombok. The population is about 800 and the island consiste of a main streeth alongside the beach and there are several activities offers around. Like vulcano hiking, canooing, diving, different kind of water sports and I rekond ever thing u need. For us this way the ultimate paradise to arrive to after Kuta beach. White sand, sunny, crystal clear water, friendly locals and no motorbikes.
Did u get that, NO MOTORBIKES!!! :) :) big smiles..... As mentioned there are no motorized vehicles on the 3 islands witch made the impression priceless for us. I mean its so nice to see a place that is clean, fresh and where they take care of the environment like they do here. The two transports options u have here is a cidomo and a bike. The bike u can rent from wherever and the cidomo u get on the main road. :) And in the age of 24 I think i am starting to like horses a bit. How about that?? hehe. The people on the island are amayzing. Friendly, helpful and funny. Like I asked around for a gym and Andy ( a guy that works in a bar) said he would take me to a local gym tomorrow. And at the same time u get invited to play football with them. :) just simply awsome :) The life here works cause of the turists who set their feet on the beach each day and every place is influenced by that. I have heard from Andy that during the high season it can be crazy here and he doesnt really like it that much when there is to many tourists. But now its low season so now its perfect he says. :) just right for us as well. And the people we have met so far has been great :) Best of luck Bjorn and Tobias.

So back to the bungalow. We found Rumah Saga hidden away a little bit away from the hot spots. And that my friends means that its cheaper :) and that we like. So we met this two guys who looked abit like P.Diddy and Dr.Dre who runned the place. And since its the low season we got the bungalow down from 380 000 to 300 000 Rp. (300 Rp = 23 euro). And its awsome, pool, breakfast included, huge ass room, two beds (I have my own now, yeahy hehe) tv with dvd player and 15 movies. The kind of movies that are on in the cinamas in Helsinki right now. :) brand new once. Off caurse fake but who cares :) we like it spes since it rained yesterday and Betty had to recover from the bed bugs biting the shit out of her. :( not so nice of them.... Did we tell u about that btw?? The two last nights on Kuta we had a serious bed bug problem and Betty (she got sensitiv skin) reacted pretty bad so her ties kind off swelled and she looked like this girl.

We have stayed here now for 2 days and we simply just love it (I think you would too Adrian and Cara). We havent done much cause the wether as been eighter bad or really good. So the first day we chilled in the bungalow watching a couple of movies since it was pissing down outside. :( and today its been amayzing so we have chilled by the pool and breathing sun for a couple of hours. Greath, except for the fact that I (Julian) had a hangover from last night. Football night with the guys. :) good times and the best side won so I quess thats fare. :) Later today we will go and eat and then we are watching a movie at 21:00. Salt with Angelina Joilie.

Tomorrow we are set to go for a bike ride around the island if the weather alows it. And then maby do some fishing or shopping a new bikini for Betty. And we would def do a fun dive and maby also a night dive wile we are here. Hear its alot of sharks here Adrian. :) so I know we would have fun and I can only hope you are doing the same.

Thats it for today guys. But more will come from the amayzing gili Trawangen island. :)
Take care.

Still on the road

Day 3 of our awesome car trip :)

As Betty mentioned in the last post we are set to go and look at the monkey forest this weary morning. The monkey forest is in the middle of Ubud and actually the city has been build around it. The two main streets end up at the monkey forest and as we found at yesterday is one way driven. Not that nice when u are the asshole that is cruising on the wrong side now is it ?? Specially when everybody is laughing at u! People just pointing and yelling stuff to u as we drove down the road. But we managed. :) Not our fault but but. And have to say that I (Julian) kind of lost it yesterday, got really pissed off cause the rain, bad driving, and stupid motor bikers. hehe Anyway, the hotel that we had where awesome with tv, huge ass double bed and I bath tub that u actually could see where white. :) First time for us on this journey. hehe Wish I could say that this where the place where Julia Roberts stayed but sorry... We only saw Eva Longoria. :) Not really but it made u little bit more interested didn't it ???

So we got this great breakfast consisting of french toast and egg :) mhmhmh And when we asked the receptionist, we found out that the monkey forest where a 2 min walk to the right of the door. Beautiful we thought and walked happily ever after. So we arrived to the sight, and realized that there where nobody there, but the sight was open. So no entrance fee :)(hahahaha) but this lady ripped us of when we both bananas. 4000 rp for 3 bananas. Damn :( that's a stiff prize. Inside we where walking around when I realized that Bettina was commando under her shirt (meaning no bra). One of the monkeys that where eager for her bracelet jumped all over her and made her shirt fell down so she where standing there with a monkey, topless. :) Priceless sight...... (They teach the monkeys good nowadays)
hehe. Other then that the monkey forest was okey, pretty much half of the sight in there (main building, pray area) where closed but we saw the idea from outside so that was fine. First time we have ever seen a monkey graveyard though. Anyone seen that ?? After about 1 hour walk around we went back to the hotel, just to get the stuff and jump in the car again. Our awesome car. :)

The first stage of today's car driving where a short one and easy to navigate. We drove about 50 min and then we arrived at the next site witch was the Goa Gajah (elephant cave). There where also no people so our timing lately have been right on the spot. (avoid all the heavy tourist loads that arrives in buses). And only some of the local stands had opened, and of course came to the car trying to sell something to us. Bracelet, hand made statues of random things and so on. At first we where wondering why the 4 other guys at the sight where wearing skirts, but u actually need to hide your knees at the sight. Its crazy I know but true. But I didn't need one, cause I still where baggy shorts. So mom, grandma and all of u baggy haters, there is now one place on earth u really need it. :) We where for about 10 min wondering about why they call it the elephant cave since it definitely don't fit a elephant in the cave. But non there less, we explored the cave and the sight and found it nice. Specially since we got to do some hiking, there where this track that went into the jungle and we just followed the road. (Without a guide) hehe. But after about 15 min we stopped and walked back to the elephant cave again, since we didn't know where this path might lead us. So when we came back to the entrance area we saw that there where this tattooed guys walking around with a huge snake. (BTW I (Julian) really don't like snakes) But of cause Betty wanted to hold it and pet with it for a wile so I had to stay around and take pictures.
Alright the snake looked kind of harmless chilling around Betty's neck and she looked like she where enjoining it. Feel it, its like a plastic bag. U should hold it after me. And she even convinced some of the older ladies that had gathered as a group around her. :) nice pics I have to admit.

So from the Elephant cave the trip went towards the high way and the east coast of Bali. :) We had a quick stop at some surf place but there where noting there at the moment accept some people just hanging around. Locals who eat and lived their life. So we decided to head for Nosa Dua, witch is in the the south cost. We where set to stay there but we only found hotels/ hostels that where so god dame expansive. Like four seasons where one room (cheapest one) where sold for 680 USD. hmm, We where little bit embarrased to be there but we simply just said no thank u and asked where the whey for the beach where. So we ended up driving back to Kuta and our AP Inn hotel that we know are a good money hotel even though the staff is a bit off. :) (nice way of saying stupid wasn't?)

So now we are here in Kuta again and today we will just relax and go out to see a movie and have some good food. :) Maby today we will have a couple of drinks and go over to Legian to party a bit. But lets see, know for sure that I am not driving again for a while. :) hehe
Hope u all are having some fun cause now we are. And now we are off to see a movie. Maybe a new one with Adam Sandler. hehe
If any questions about the trip, just ask us.
Lets talk some more later. Adios.
Take care guys :)
