On the road again med mera plats i bilen

Gorgeous Melbourne

Melbourne, with it's unique architecture, their art, it's colorful buildings, the Melbournian bars, the friendly people, graffiti filled walls & their Grand Prix circuit is a city we found to love :). But was it better then Sydney or can u compare them??? The tree of us has a combined impression that Melbourne is less busy (normally) & the people is far more relaxed then Sydney, but then again Sydney is warmer & has the beaches near.
So u can't really compare them, since they are totally different cities. In Melbourne u don't have the post card pictures like the Opera House, Harbor bridge & bondi beach but u have stuff like graffiti, grand prix & Melbournian cafe's. A cultural hot spot with bar, restaurant and shopping delights is what Melbourne is. So we are not comparing them and simply just agreeing that we like them both, but it's really about what u want to do!!. Eks, if u want the beach life u choose Sydney, but for shopping & life u choose Melbourne :)
Anyway, Melbourne is Australia's 2 biggest city (pop 4 m) & the city is clean, friendly & well organized :). With Melbourne we found to love the fact that it's a city with a wide specter. Meaning that u can do anything here. Like downtown for tourism related stuff, take a walk down the narrow graffiti filled street's , see break dancing on the street, bar's & cafe's everywhere & if u need the beach just drive down to the great ocean road. (1 hour drive)
We can't come without mention the Formula grand prix circuit that make Melbourne go crazy for a weekend each year. We just happen to be here at that weekend. :) Just simply awesome :) :) :). Too bad the prize for the weekend race where to expensive & the fact that we had made plans for some sightseeing & drinking so we decided to just go and see the qualification rounds on Friday. Witch was an experience that words can't explain. For u that are interested,
Sebastian Vettel (Red Bul) won the race & 2'nd came Lewis Hamilton (McLaren). The circuit had so much to offer, activities like water skiing, a jet ski (vattenskoter) show, break dancing, motocross show & so much more. A theme park for adults witch there where many of. People from all over the world gathered for the circuit, making the city go crazy for 4 day's. A great experience that we will remember that for the rest of our life. :)
Other then that Melbourne offered us some sightseeing (the sightseeing spot's u can see in the picture file), but one that we want to mention is the Eureka tower
& had the most stunning view over Melbourne during night time. :)
The tower has this glass cave that takes u out away from the tower where u are standing on glass 300 meter over the ground. :) scary shit !!! Some other things we saw where one of the biggest stadiums in Australia, the MCG cricket stadium with it's 85 000 seats. A lot of sights that would make this plot be endless. So we rather sum up the funny, nice stuff that gave us good memories. :) hehe

The next day after some more sightseeing we ended up on a Mexican restaurant called Taco Bill with Mexican sombreros on our head doing shots of tequila & drinking the biggest margarita we ever has seen. Nice restaurant that was hidden away on the 2'nd floor & crowded. It where full when we came & still full when we left. People arriving all the time with no tables standing empty.
Good evening, but u could tell that it where a long time since we did tequila. Even the bartender came & told us that we are wasted & that she wished she could join us. hehe :) Into the street we ended trying as hard as we could to find our way back to the camping. We managed after maybe 3 km walk. hehe :)
Anyway, we (Betty & Julle) are still in Melbourne after Emma leaving us Sunday morning. & when u left Emma, the sun came out and we had an awesome sunset on the Docklands were we rented bikes & bicycled around Melbourne. Sorry Emma, but it will be sunny now for 4 days.... We will stay here for 1 more day we recond and from there we just see what happens cause now we don't have any plans or any place that we need to be at a .... :) nice feeling. No obligations and no worries. :) But have to split now, got some tanning to take care of. So thanx for this time & u will hear from us again soon. :) Just comment guys & thanx to all for the congratulations. :)

Ps. Emma have a nice trip back home, we miss u allready & for the rest of u that is thinking about visiting. Just come, u are welcome. Take care guys.

Great Ocean Road

Men joo, Great Ocean Road ar definitivt att rekommendera!

G'Day Mate

A cold Friday morning in the Aussie's we jumped in the spaceship van & set the navigators (Emma & Betty) towards a town called Etchuca and our friends Aaron & Hendrika witch we met in the jungle in Lao :) :) U just got to love how u meet people here. Anyway, Etchuca we found quite easy and after about 3 hours driving we found ourselves in the middle of the city. Yeahy :) After some guiding we found Aaron's house. :)
The house looked amazing with a huge backyard where we could play with Koby (Their dog), have a Aussie style BBQ and a place where u could sit down and enjoy life & the beautiful sunset. The sunset view they have is like a picture. It's beautiful and probably add value to the property :) They also have this little billabong in their backyard witch makes it perfect.
The billabong is also a place for Koby to cool down after playing nonstop for 12 hours with the ball. Amazing ball enthusiast :). Aaron & Hendrika are a friendly & nice couple that enjoy living in the beautiful city Etchuca. Aaron owns a 2 hectare property where they grow some fruits such as bananas, apples, herbs, and some others that we can't remember. Sorry guy's :) hehe The property is perfectly located just 10 min from the city center and far out enough so that u have the green surroundings around u.
Etchuca is a small town with it's 14 000 inhabitants, but a nice one it is. Spes since we had two locals to hang with that could show us around and tell us everything that we needed to know about the town :). And also took us places where we would have had to pay 100 euro p.p to see.
Like the river cruising in Aaron's dad's boat, out to the outback looking for kangaroos and an Aussie style BBQ. :) They all where awesome & for us priceless since we probably wouldn't have experienced that. So cheers guys :) The river cruise was nice, since the sun was shining. Hendrika had packed a pick nick bag with food & beer that we could enjoy while sighseeing :) How cool is that........ Amazing day on the river in Australia. :) Thanks again guy's for showing us the real Aussie.
Etchuca is known for their paddle steamers and the Port of Echuca. But also for tourism. Those two is a mayor attraction along with the weather, the friendly people and the atmosphere the town give u. :) If u are headed to Australia u have to visit Etchuca. :) Was that good enough marketing for Etchuca Aaron ????? We did so much in Etchuca and one of the best where the Aussie style BBQ. We had Australian Dampa as a starter, Australian Sausages and baked potatoes with cream fresh & cheese on as a main course and ice cream & some apple thing that was soo good..... And all the food was made on the fire in the backyard watching the sunset. :) :) Hope one day that we could do the same for u guys in Norway or Finland course u are more then welcome to visit us.... :)

From Etchuca our journey went towards the great ocean road. The road's are fine and sometimes u feel like u re the only one driving on the roads. Just u and the outback :) Witch is nice but a bit boring and spec if the road are 10 km straight on without a curve at all. I mean at all, just strait forward as long as u can see. :( Fucking boring I say..... But anyway, we desided to spend one night in a place close to the beach and not far away from the great ocean road. The place we found was awesome, on the beach with amazing view and landscape. The place was called something like Johannas beach camping and had a endless beach with huge ass waves.

We have left about 1600 km behind us as u might be able to see on the map to the right and now we find our self down in south east Australia. In a small tourist town called Port Campbell. Here we might stay for the night since the weather isn't that great, but anyway have to run. So thanx for now and I am sorry that the post where a bit long. Take care guys. Cheers

Btw. Today it's my and Jenny' birthday :) Cheers Jenny, happy b'day to u.. We are getting old aren't we..... The girls made me breakfast and I got some presents this morning. Thanx guys, u are the best. :)

Roadtrip i Australien

-"Could you take us to Cleadon street?"
-"No problem!" sa taxi chaufforen och korde ivag.

Sedan baddade vi in oss for natten!

Tack for ordet igen! See you later guys! :)

Sista dagarna i Sydney

Tjenare tjenare!

Same same but different!

Cheers mates<3

Love Sydney

Hello blog visitors :)
We are back again, but this time we have Emma by our side. For two weeks she will join our adventure and take part in the daily day action. :) As Emme (our visiting gueststar) mentioned in the last post we are now in Sydney and have been for the last 4 days. And it's been amayzing :) So much we have managed to do and this day has not even started yet. Emma mentioned a lot of our activities the last couple of days so I will start by introdusing Sydney for u guys and then inlighten u in our daily activities. :) Sydney with it's 4.5 million inhabbitant's is the largest and most popular city in Australia, but not the capital for u that did'nt know that. What is the capital?? 5 bucks to the one that get's it. :) Sydney is know for commerce, arts, fashion, culture, entertainment, music, education and tourism.
With the Opera house as it's icon and the beutiful Sydney harbour as the tourism mekka. Syney as all other big city's in the world is devided by inner cities. Like Kings cross (Rodberget back in Helsinki), St. James (Toolo), Circular Quay (Manhatten in New York) and so on. Anyway our hostel/hostel's are located between Kings Cross and Potts Points. It's the red dott on the map to the right. Kings cross is commonly known as the red light districthere in Sydney. Party place with all u need, like several strip clubs, homeless people and all that.
But I mean we like it, supermarket, laundry, internet cafe next door, its close to a metro station and it's perfected located if u want to have a walk or a run. The Royal Botanic Garden just 15 min away with it's amayzing view point over Syney harbour and the opera house. Also it's not far away from the city, bondi beach or the airport. So it's perfect for us. :)Did we mention that it's the red light district?? hehe u know what that means don't u....

The last 2 days the weather as been awesome so we have been chilling on the beach, first day we spent at bondi beach and then yesterday on manly beach.
Chill days just trying to get the tan to come back again. :) And it has allready, even our white finnish friend got some collor. hehehe Bad thing about manly beach for us was the fact that it was sunday so everyone had the day of and wanted to go to the beach so it was really crouded and we spent about 1 and a half hour getting there. And a lot more on the way back since the girls wanted to do some shopping. :( hehe On the way back to the hostel's we stopped by our local pizza place for some italian pizza. Great pizza and with excellent service. The guy joked around, sat down besides us when we ordered and so on. We even got to draw on our table with collor pens and all. Hehehe nice place :)

Today the girls went shopping so I got the time to hit the gym and update myself on the car rental agreement and where to get our space vagon. :) Soon we will hit the road up to Aaron and Hendrica's place in Melbourne for some water-skiing. Loking foreward to that. :) But yeah this is it for this time, we still have about 3 more days in Sydney so we will visit the imax theater, maby do the Sydney harbour bridge climb and just enjoy the city on it's best.

So take care guys & girls. We will see u again and thanx for reading our blog :)
Cheers

Gueststar in Australia

Halsningar fran Sydney och the visiting gueststar - Emma!

Cheers mates!

Moderna skrapfria Singapore

Vi sag bl.a.

Leaving Bali

Remember what we wrote about the 4th and 5th of mars on the last post?? That they party and make so much noise on the 4 that the evil spirits leave and that the 5th its a silent day and that nothing is working what so ever..... Well, turns out that they turn off the banking system for the ATM's across the hole country as well as everything else. :) Go figure...

So this is where our trouble started. First of all for Sarah, the girl from somewhere in England that we met.
Non of us knew that the ATM would not work, so we didn't care to lift money since we where to be inside all day and where leaving the country in the morning. We woke up around 06:45 and had breakfast together when we realized that the ATM's weren't open yet. Shit Shit Shit I recon Sarah's thoughts where... :) What shall I do? Cause Sarah had like 30 000 Rp (around 2 euros) and the hotel room where about 400 000 (28 euro). A small different isn't??? So we asked several times when the ATM would open again and they all said 08:00 pm, and our flight where scheduled to leave for Singapore 09:10. Meaning that 08:00 is the latest we need to leave to the airport. Well, we had to leave earlier since we also needed cash and we thought that it where a better chance that the ATM would work at the airport. It has to, right?? So around 07:10 we left Sarah at the hotel agreed that we should do whatever we can to make them wait a little bit at the gate and at the airport for her. :)We even paid the asshole taxi driver a little bit more so that he would go back to the hotel and wait for her so that he could drive her directly to the airport. But guess what??? He just simply lied and took the extra money and took off. So no taxi was waiting for her.... Just sums up how much u can trust some people here........ :(

At the airport the trouble started for us :( When we came to the airport we started to think about the airport tax fee that we need to pay. 150 000 pr head and we had about 100 000 all together so we where in deep shit as well. And the ATM's still weren't working. So I (Julian) went inside to see if there where any place where we could get some money but nope, no help from nobody. :( So we found some money from Cambodia & Thailand that we could change but still it weren't enough for the both of us to travel. This is wen the funny part started, a security guard that saw our problem came and said that he would give us the money if we had something of interest for him.
We started thinking about what we could sell to him. I (Julian) offered him my electronic razor and my fake watch witch instantly fell in his attention. And Betty offered him a fake purse but he didn't pay attention to that. It where the watch he wanted.... :)
hehehehe so he asked how much and I told him the money so that we could leave the country. He thought long and hard and asked me all these questions of if the watch where water proof and how much I paid for it. :) Of cause I couldn't lie to him so I told him that it where a fake that I bought in Kuta and he called over several of his friends to get some opinion on the case. :) Betty where little bit afraid but they where friendly and not dangerous so it where fine. In the end this other guy told me to come with him and that he knew a place where I could get money. hmmm, little bit sketchy but I went along with him. Well inside the airport there where this guy how sold newspapers and some other souvenir stuff that told me that I could pay with card and get some money out. Awesome I thought.. :) Off cause I had to buy something and he also took 20 % for himself. Expensive but I mean what could we do........ So we got the money and where on our way to check in for the flight. We explained the situation to the guy at the counter for check in but he didn't seem to care that much but he would stay for 10 more minute... We started to get worried for Sarah cause she didn't answer her cell and no word at all from her at all. :(

Alright stay with me on this one. Back to 07:45 and to the hotel where we left Sarah. She where anxious and the clock seemed to go so slow. Like one minute where one hour, and by the time the clock got to 08:00 (witch where the time they said that the ATM would open) Sarah just told them that she needed to leave right away and that one of them simply had to come with her cause she is leaving. So one of the receptionist said that he would drive her to an ATM. So they went searching for a ATM and around 08:15 they found one. With the money on her she paid the guy and even got him to drive her to the airport. He did a Michael Shcumacher on her, the normal 15 min drive into a 7 minute drive so she actually made it just on time for the flight. :) Awesome felling and we where so happy the tree of us that we all made it :)

Well arrived in Singapore we had to go to customs. :) Random check up, witch where fine for us since we didn't have anything illegal with us, at least that's what we thought...... :( Cause what I (Julian) totally had forgotten about was the sling knife that I bought in Cambodia. So I was asked to open my backpack and show them the content of my backpack. Then the knife came to sight. :( Custom police told me to pick it up, lay it on the table and to keep my hands so that they could see them. After looking for 1 sec on the knife she told me to take my bag and follow her. :( Not so nice feeling when u hear them calling a 9-5 and asking for the police to join them.... Seriously I really believed I was headed for jail for a sec there and both Betty and Sarah looked surprised and a little bit worried as I where guided into the interviewing chamber. Bye Bye Betty, see u in a couple of years........
So there I was sitting in their office being interviewed 4 times by different police officers witch all asked the same question in a different way. They where really interested in where I bought it and for witch purpose. So in the end after explaining them how and where I bought the knife they let me go with only a warning. :) :) :) :) Managed to talk my way out of getting a 500 dollar fine. Hell yeah, but if that happens again they will bring me to court in Singapore and give me 130 community service hours and maybe some time to kill in the jail. :( So next time I travel in Singapore I will for sure check my backpack.....

Well here we are in Singapore at least and in a couple of days Betty will write a post about the city and our activities for u to read. But have to run... Our bus is arriving soon so take care and see you soon.
Cheers

Last days on Gili Trawangan & Bali

When u look back on time u tend to think about the things that u should have done and the things that u did do, witch u shouldn't have done. When we look back on our stay at Gili Trawangan we tend to think about that we should have done the advanced open water course and that we shouldn't have done the advanced night dive. Since there is nothing u can do about it let bygone be bygone and focus on the memories instead. Memories like snorkeling with turtles, meeting Luke and Bryony, partying and the island in it self, witch gave us so much :). Its been like a vacation away from the vacation, if u know what I mean. No cars, no hassle and just the relaxed life has done us good, specially since we soon are on our way to Singapore and Sydney. In its own way Gili Trawangan has been the paradise that we missed out on and that we needed before hitting the road again.

The last couple of days has gone fast and has been funny & interesting. We have celebrated Bryony's birthday, gone snorkeling a couple of times, been to the movies and done a night dive. Of cause the normal activities like, relaxing on the beach and eating good local food has been a part of the days as well.
On Bryony's birthday we celebrated her in a open bungalow on the beach with local food and music. It was an amazing night and we ended up having a couple of drinks as well. They are a naice couple and just might end up seeing them in Auckland as well. :) yeahy. Anyway for dinner we had king prawns, snapper and one more fish witch name is missing in our memory. The fish where grilled on the BBQ with as much accessories (potatoes, onions, salad, and souse) as u possible could eat. Awesome meal witch where quite cheap as well. Only 20 euro for like the meal itself, 2 orange juices and 4 drinks. The rest of the evening went by laughing and giving compliments to the chef for the food. And learning some local words. hehe :) Terima kasih ( thanks), Berapa (how much?). But since we had scheduled the night dive the next day we couldn't take it all the way, witch non of us where able to do cause of snorkeling the entire day. :)

The night dive we thought was a waste of money.... Too bad but yeah, we didn't find it awesome like we did diving on Koh Tao. First of all the instructors treated everyone has complete strangers, the instruction where short and some just weird since we saw half of what she said. She went like, I tell u about the diving sight on the boat since we might change it, but no info at all on the boat. Just that there where a current so we need to stay together as a group. We didn't really see anything at all. A couple of fishes, baby octopus and some snakes that where hunting on the ground. But don't get me wrong, I am glad that we did it cause now we know how its like and we are certified to do night dives on our own. And we don't need to do it when we do our advanced open water so some beneficially reasons came from it.

And by that our friends we are weaving goodbye to Gili Trawangan and continue our journey towards Australia. We recommend visiting the Gili Islands and we are thankful for the 8 days we got to spend there. 8 days with relaxing, fun and joy is over for this time. Thank u Gili. :) hehe

From Gili Trawangan we went back to Kuta beach (Bali) just because of our flight leaving 10 min from there. :) Forgot to tell u this but on the 5th of mars there is some sort of secret day in Bali.
Hari Raya Nyepi witch its called is a holy day and its starts on the evening on the 4th of mars. Then they celebrate, party and make a lot of noise so that the evil spirits that are among us leave Bali for someplace else. And the next day (the 5th) everything is closed and everyone is to be inside doing nothing but praying. I mean the lights cant even be on, and u should not make any noise at all. Because when the evil spirits returns, Bali seems to be abandoned, witch will make the spirits go to another place. :) So right now as we speak we are trapped inside our hotel, with nothing to do except chill in our room and pray. Of course that's all that we do :)In here is a lot Swedish people and some Norwegians, that like to party so they were already drunk at lunch. :( hehe Its like being in Big Brother competition where u cant leave the place, all u do is drink and the winner gets some money. :)But thank god its only one night so we will survive. :)

Tomorrow morning we will be on our way to the amazing Singapore. We are leaving the hotel around 7 in the morning and we met this girl from London that we will share a taxi with to the airport tomorrow. Funny thing is that we happen to meet her in a van towards Kuta Beach and she where on her way for the exact same reasons that we are so that's pretty cool. :) And it also means that the taxi is cheaper and better for all of us. :) sweet :)

But have to run guys so have a god one and please comment and keep looking at our blog :) That's why we have it and that's the reason we wright this once every no and then. Qitha we miss u :) hehe
Anyway take care and have some fun.
Cheers
