Last days on Gili Trawangan & Bali

When u look back on time u tend to think about the things that u should have done and the things that u did do, witch u shouldn't have done. When we look back on our stay at Gili Trawangan we tend to think about that we should have done the advanced open water course and that we shouldn't have done the advanced night dive. Since there is nothing u can do about it let bygone be bygone and focus on the memories instead. Memories like snorkeling with turtles, meeting Luke and Bryony, partying and the island in it self, witch gave us so much :). Its been like a vacation away from the vacation, if u know what I mean. No cars, no hassle and just the relaxed life has done us good, specially since we soon are on our way to Singapore and Sydney. In its own way Gili Trawangan has been the paradise that we missed out on and that we needed before hitting the road again.

The last couple of days has gone fast and has been funny & interesting. We have celebrated Bryony's birthday, gone snorkeling a couple of times, been to the movies and done a night dive. Of cause the normal activities like, relaxing on the beach and eating good local food has been a part of the days as well.
On Bryony's birthday we celebrated her in a open bungalow on the beach with local food and music. It was an amazing night and we ended up having a couple of drinks as well. They are a naice couple and just might end up seeing them in Auckland as well. :) yeahy. Anyway for dinner we had king prawns, snapper and one more fish witch name is missing in our memory. The fish where grilled on the BBQ with as much accessories (potatoes, onions, salad, and souse) as u possible could eat. Awesome meal witch where quite cheap as well. Only 20 euro for like the meal itself, 2 orange juices and 4 drinks. The rest of the evening went by laughing and giving compliments to the chef for the food. And learning some local words. hehe :) Terima kasih ( thanks), Berapa (how much?). But since we had scheduled the night dive the next day we couldn't take it all the way, witch non of us where able to do cause of snorkeling the entire day. :)

The night dive we thought was a waste of money.... Too bad but yeah, we didn't find it awesome like we did diving on Koh Tao. First of all the instructors treated everyone has complete strangers, the instruction where short and some just weird since we saw half of what she said. She went like, I tell u about the diving sight on the boat since we might change it, but no info at all on the boat. Just that there where a current so we need to stay together as a group. We didn't really see anything at all. A couple of fishes, baby octopus and some snakes that where hunting on the ground. But don't get me wrong, I am glad that we did it cause now we know how its like and we are certified to do night dives on our own. And we don't need to do it when we do our advanced open water so some beneficially reasons came from it.

And by that our friends we are weaving goodbye to Gili Trawangan and continue our journey towards Australia. We recommend visiting the Gili Islands and we are thankful for the 8 days we got to spend there. 8 days with relaxing, fun and joy is over for this time. Thank u Gili. :) hehe

From Gili Trawangan we went back to Kuta beach (Bali) just because of our flight leaving 10 min from there. :) Forgot to tell u this but on the 5th of mars there is some sort of secret day in Bali.
Hari Raya Nyepi witch its called is a holy day and its starts on the evening on the 4th of mars. Then they celebrate, party and make a lot of noise so that the evil spirits that are among us leave Bali for someplace else. And the next day (the 5th) everything is closed and everyone is to be inside doing nothing but praying. I mean the lights cant even be on, and u should not make any noise at all. Because when the evil spirits returns, Bali seems to be abandoned, witch will make the spirits go to another place. :) So right now as we speak we are trapped inside our hotel, with nothing to do except chill in our room and pray. Of course that's all that we do :)In here is a lot Swedish people and some Norwegians, that like to party so they were already drunk at lunch. :( hehe Its like being in Big Brother competition where u cant leave the place, all u do is drink and the winner gets some money. :)But thank god its only one night so we will survive. :)

Tomorrow morning we will be on our way to the amazing Singapore. We are leaving the hotel around 7 in the morning and we met this girl from London that we will share a taxi with to the airport tomorrow. Funny thing is that we happen to meet her in a van towards Kuta Beach and she where on her way for the exact same reasons that we are so that's pretty cool. :) And it also means that the taxi is cheaper and better for all of us. :) sweet :)

But have to run guys so have a god one and please comment and keep looking at our blog :) That's why we have it and that's the reason we wright this once every no and then. Qitha we miss u :) hehe
Anyway take care and have some fun.
Cheers

  3. Nice to hear from you guys. Sounds like your little island was a paradise. I hope you enjoy Singapore. It sounds like a very western style city, I look forward to hearing what you think of it.

That's strange about the "secret" day in Bali where you have to stay inside and do nothing.

    Take care,
    Adrian
